I assure you, I would never offer such a thing were I not confident in my strength. With the time I've put in to learning to steady myself aloft, too, I think I may have a fair shake at catching anyone who needs help from a fall!
As for the sights, yes. Were it possible, I would somehow burn every sunrise and set to memory, because they're breathtaking. There was little time and less to admire where I'm from, and so it means a great deal to me to have this opportunity to simply stop and admire beautiful things.
As for Owain? [if you think you're learning about Anankos today, bucko, you think wrong.] While he may speak of things as "blood boiling with darkness" or "a great, tremendous force which seeks to rend him in twain"...no. He's not affiliated with any great evils that I'm aware of. He is quite fond of hyperbole, sometimes convincingly so. [but...she'd be surprised if he of all people was convinced.]

It's okay. I trust you on that! It's my own insecurities I'm worried about, you get me? Well okay, that and I'm not as spry as I used to be. Besides, I'm more of a floating guy than a flying one.

It's good to remember things that are worth protecting. Natural beauty's just one of them.

I understand and struggle much the same. It can be difficult to find equal footing in a conversation when both are from different worlds. Even those with similar structure still come with their own histories and intricacies that are hard to pin down, and one person's norm is another's taboo.
Owain takes to that stride much quicker than I, I think. But then again, he's been here longer, so perhaps he hit similar struggles early on.

That right there is one of the most difficult things about this place, isn't it? It's difficult for us to understand one another, when the sorts of given contexts any of us usually considers in discussion with another person is thrown out the window, and nothing we're used to applies anymore.

Your cousin's really found himself a lot of common ground with people, huh? And he's even popular with the natives now. That's no joke! He could do a lot of good, with that kind of sway. I think he's a really genuine person.

I don't mind at all, truly. I'm taking a break from all the activity that's been going on today, so it's nice to just sit down and be able to collect my thoughts like this.
Thank you for your kind words regarding my cousin. It may not be your intention to simply compliment him so, but it makes me happy to know others seem to acknowledge him as the good person he is. He oftentimes doubts that about himself.

I think that's a common sentiment among some of the better people I've met, here. Doubting their own worth.

Well, dispositions aside, I assume that would be natural, right? That is, we're all faced with a world not our own, having little choice but to adapt and learn how to live our lives here. It takes a remarkable sort to have the confidence to see such a task through without doubts, I would think.

Yeah, I suppose it does.

You could say it's that very process of adaptation that's intended for us to seek, perhaps. There's always been the theory that we're here to be 'readied' for something. The last group seemed to be, in any case, and it's possible that history may repeat here. Although I certainly hope not.

What other group are you talking about?

Oh, maybe no one's brought it up to you yet. It's kind of ancient history, these days.

Have you ever heard of 'The City'? Or Lachesis, for that matter.

I've heard the name Lachesis used as the name of the god of this world. But what city are you referring to?

That's right, more or less. It would sort of work to say she's the god of all worlds, considering her ability to take us as she pleases, but that's splitting hairs at this point.

The City was the name of the place where the first imPorts appeared. From the point of view of our record of history, that is. A city in another world, destroyed by Lachesis' enemies before she fled to this world, taking imPorts along with her.

Who was the enemy? Do you know?

That would be her sister and fellow Fate, Atropos. And Atropos' allies, or I suppose you could call them that- a group called Vulcanus.

I shouldn't be surprised, but this...is sounding a lot more complicated than I first imagined. [not to mention the eerie similarities to Plegia and the fell dragon...]

More than you'd know, unless someone told you, I figure. I'd say most imPorts these days only know a minimal amount about it.

Left, came back. Long, long time inbetween. It's rare, from what I understand, but who can know the whims of the Fates?

Definitely not me. But that's rather remarkable. You're a kind of veteran world-traveler, then?

Haha. For what it's worth, I suppose. Not as veteran as some, for whom it's a normal occurrence in their worlds.

There's a few others like me here, but most don't like to discuss it. Bad memories, and all that.

No, don't worry about it. Even though the memories are bad, it's important for people to know the history of what came before, so they avoid repeating mistakes.

Although I missed a lot of the important parts that took place before the move to this world, if you've ever got questions, I'm happy to answer them.

[And besides, the painful parts were just boring, personal histories that no one would need to hear anyway.]

I think the best advice I could give a newcomer is... don't worry too much about anything that happens here, because as soon as you leave, it'll all be nothing.

That and while you're here, unfortunately, to get used to the idea of loss. People don't stick around long. And when they do, it's worse.
