[A casual shrug, a little salute, and he cuts the feed.]
[The ride over feels morose, in a way he can't quite put his finger on. The Quatre now and the Quatre then were not the same, and the sins of one shouldn't affect the other. But this was Quatre; he'd take it upon himself regardless, which was part of the reason Duo hadn't told him. That and... all the other things he figured he should tell him now. Ageing back made him realize how easily he could slip out of here, leaving Quatre entirely unawares to what other nasty secrets could appear here- his sister the least of it.]
[He parks his bike and appears beside Quatre out of the air, since it won't have any affect on him anyway, and kicks one heel up on the rock breach at the edge of the beachsand.] Crazy week, huh? How's Mars.
[It's easy to feel that there's a change coming on the horizon. Quatre knows without a doubt that this conversation is going to... shift things. But that was a given from the moment that Duo told him he had already been in The City.
Quatre's sitting on the rocks, dressed inappropriately in clothes that will retain every grain of sand that touches them (aka, normally), watching the waves break instead of turning to see (or not see) Duo walk up.]
It's too bad we aren't ready to go yet. [Because as of the date that this thread is taking place, Mars is EXTREMELY CLOSE to Earth. He almost wants to ask Duo what it's like, but... they're drawing enough attention to the differences between their perceptions of time already.] Duo... I'm sorry. [yes, already.]
It would be convenient I guess, but... given the tech you're working with, maybe it doesn't matter.
[Duo turns to him and raises a finger before the apology can go any further.] Ah-ah. Don't do it, man. You think I don't know you're about to do that thing again?
[He smiles his everpresent half-smile and drops his hand to his knee again, collecting his thoughts.] You don't have anything to apologize for yet. It's me who should be apologizing... For not being straightforward. I should have known better than to hope I could just ignore things, but... It isn't fair to leave you in the dark like that.
[A small breath, and his eyes fall shut.] You were there. We all were... all 5 of us, at some point or another. I was the first, just as I was again in this place. Heero came in and out- you know, it suits him. Funny she did that.
[His eyes open again, sombre.] Your powers had been different there, too. Similar to here. You had another power- you could shift the earth's tectonic plates, mold Earth minerals. 'Geomancy', they call it, amongst the cape-types.
If by 'that thing' you mean apologizing... [Quatre grumbles under his breath, though there isn't any malice to it. It's nice to know that Duo isn't holding anything against him; he instinctively shakes his head when Duo says he should apologize in turn. He was frustrated with it earlier, but...]
You wouldn't have done it if you didn't have a good reason. [Emotional constipation still counts.] We were all there... I'm glad.
[It felt right that all five of them were still a group, even in that other universe. He still has his lingering uncertainty over how much they'll see each other in the future; it's nice to know that it can still be the five of them sometimes.]
So that's why you asked about my abilities... [he muses. The idea of having an additional set of powers is a little difficult to wrap his head around; it takes him a moment to realize that all of the others must have struggled with learning a new skill, like most people in this universe. His experiences here were probably the strange ones.] What about the others?
Yeah. When there's nothing to be apologizing for. [He lets out a quiet, amused breath.] Some things just are, there's no need for you to take ownership of 'em...
[Anyway... he cracks a grin, remembering the others' powers.] Most of us had something related to our Gundams, one way or another. Wufei was pyrokinetic- could produce and control flames. Me, with my cloaking, kinda like 'scythe's Active Cloak and EMC capabilities, and you-- well, I guess that one was a little more tongue-in-cheek for ol' Lachesis. 'Sandrock'... [His grin widens] Not all of us, though. Heero was invulnerable- more than usual, even. Bullets just bounced offa him, can you believe it!?
And Trowa... [Duo grin goes wide, side-glancing towards Quatre] I called 'im "Simba". He could shapeshift into a lion. Can you believe it!? [He's cracking up again, just thinking about it.]
[What's it like to not take ownership of everything? Sounds pretty selfish, if you ask Quatre. He looks like he doesn't quite believe Duo, but that he'll humor him for the sake of the conversation. There's plenty of appropriately distracting material to work with, after all.
Listening to Duo name a power for each of them really drives home that they were here (or close enough to it); Quatre can't help but smile just at the sound of their names, much less the descriptions of their abilities.] I'd noticed that with your cloaking, but to think it was a pattern... [Well, Wufei was a pattern. He admits that it sounds like his own forgotten abilities were more of a pun than something Sandrock could actually do. He actually laughs with delight at the reveal about Trowa.] We really were all together.... [It's good. It feels right. Not that this was wrong, but-- it would either be one or two of them, or all of them. Better to have all five together. It's a nice enough idea that he doesn't think to ask, at first.] ...Why didn't you say anything before?
[It's an honest question, not a guilt trip; he's truly curious to know.]

Beach it is! Seeya soon.
