[Duo doesn't take too long, pulling up on his 'Scythecycle (yes it has a name shut up), and uncloaks himself once he spots the big blue boy waiting for him nearby.]

Hey pal! Glad you thought of me first for the cool power reveal. [He calls, clambering over junk (and even giving a piece or two a moment of interest, maybe he'll pick some up later).]

I thought you'd appreciate it.

[said with a wave. without any further ado, he summons his new gun. it beeps and flashes a little and a cheerful voice says targeting system online!

[(For certain extremely cynical value of 'better'.)] I think I wanna see it blow some scrap up. [Duo grins, glancing out over the junkyard for a good target.]

[Of course they'd train their soldiers on kiddiewheels, first. Every warring race did, in some way. Toy swords, or romantic stories of battles.]

[That was quite an impressive explosion.] I gotta get me one'a those. [He whistles lowly.] Not easy to even get your hands on normal incendiaries around here! Need to find me another weapons dealer.

[He glances jokingly at Riptide.] I take it that Swindle guy's not around these parts. Tho' I wouldn't be surprised if that thing had anything to do with him, either...

Eh? Swindle? He died ages ago.

Brainstorm made this for Swerve, as a joke. It's annoying I got it and not an actual gun, but... a Brainstorm weapon is nothing to sneeze at.

Well, there goes my only idea. [Duo chuckles, but he's not too sad to see the 'con go, considering some of the stuff he was involved in.] Guess I'll have to find a human. Or... a something else, around here.

[Duo steps closer to actually give the gun a more appraising look-over- Cybertronian weaponry he was not intimately familiar with, no, and as loud as the weapon was, it was hard to tell which aspects were-- well... more typical.]

Weapons scientist? [He asks, referring to the new name.] I don't know, for 'not an actual gun', seems to be doing the trick.

Brainstorm's pretty incredible. Apparently he opened his briefcase once and a sun went out. He did most of the weapons development during the war. Makes sense. It's a time machine.

[Duo looks concerned? Concerned is a good word for it. But he's also sort of used to the sorts of extremes Cybertronians apparently have reached by this point, after all of Riptide's casual tales.]

[There's a quirk of Duo's mouth as memories hit of those crazy old bastards. Yeah, Duo knew all about mad weapons scientists.] Seems the guy has a sense of humor, at least.

[he snorts, putting the gun on the ground.]

He sure does, though. [sigh.] I miss him. I think he's dead because of me.

Haha, alright, alright... [Duo chuckles, waving a dismissive hand. He gives the gun another glance-over now that it's at his level, though. About beam rifle size... He walks around it, taking it in.]

[Riptide's last comment catches Duo's attention again, and he gives a careful look.] ...You mentioned something, before. Right. When you went and lost your arm.

[He glances down to the gun again, then leans against a nearby pile of scrap.] Feel like talking about it? You don't gotta.

[he considers. then shakes his head.]

Bunch of betrayals and people dying. You don't wanna know.

I wouldn't have asked if I didn't. [Duo says, gently, but he'll let it go. If that's what the guy needs to distance himself from it, if he still needs his time to process... He's not gonna push it.]

Your arm feelin' better, by the way? Haven't had any complications? ...How's things with your pal?

[he shrugs.]

Y'sure? [Duo steps over to it, crouching down, looking at the energy generator.] ...Hope things work out, pal. You might've really screwed it up, but you didn't mean to, right?

Taking responsibility's just as important as what you meant to happen. Owning up. Even if things were really bad... not much else of use that you can do.

[he shakes his head, putting his hand on the gun. it disappears.]

[And Duo shrugs. He wasn't going to push the issue, then, if Riptide really didn't want to talk about it.]

[He stumbles slightly, having been leaning over the gun to get a close look when it vanished, and blinks.] Woah, hey! Convenient trick... Say, have you tried pulling this thing out as a human? Does it come out mini-sized if you do that?

I thought about trying it but... I think the likelihood of getting crushed is a bit high, right? It's not like I'd stay human in a fight, anyway.

Haha, that's fair. [Duo sure wasn't about to guinea pig for that theory, either.] Guess you gotta hope this won't run out of juice on its own. I haven't really seen much hope in the way of nuclear fission generation sources around here that are sophisticated enough to charge beam weaponry.

... Assuming that's what yours run on, I dunno.
